Actress

On stage, Navida has been a cat and a cowgirl. She has been a violin playing Mrs. Fezziwig in A Christmas Carol for four years at Actors Theater of Louisville and Mrs. Pearce in Amanda Dehnert’s innovative production of My Fair Lady. She has sat on a roof as THE fiddler, playing the violin part live. Navida has worn big dresses doing Shakespeare’s Nurse in R&J and Maria in 12th Night. She’s created new roles in new plays including Beth in Carbondale Dreams Off Broadway.

BLESSED, a short film she wrote, co-produced and starred in has won awards at international and national film festivals.

Navida’s television credits include “Law & Order”, spots for Nickelodeon and she has appeared in independent films and commercials.

As a solo performer, Navida’s show URBAN ZEN was part of the United Solo 2012 Festival and won the award for Best Non-Fiction Script. She has several other solo shows including Secrets of a Watchful Sparrow: Daddy, Me & OCD , about her father and OCD, and Mrs. Cristofoli’s Daughter for a Day.

In her audiobook work, Navida has learned how to be the intimate bridge between the listener and the author’s words. Her classical training from Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in London and her extensive studies with Shakespeare & Company have given her an expressive and healthy instrument to tell stories with.

NATIVE GARDENS at MERRIMACK REPERTORY THEATER

“Navida Stein plays Virginia with an intensity and a shrewdness that suits her character’s background as a Lockheed Martin engineer. She’s had to battle institutional sexism to get where she is, and Stein conveys the character’s savvy. Battling the Butleys will not be so easy.”

the arts fuse

“Stein exudes the kind of toughness that it would take for a woman to succeed in the male-dominated defense industry.”

A CHRISTMAS CAROL at ACTORS THEATER OF LOUISVILLE

Navida Stein, Actress, 12th Night, NavidaStein.com“My other favorite performance was from Navida Stein. Her Mrs. Fezziwig was so much fun and was so engaging; I couldn’t take my eyes off her and then she went and played the violin like it was nothing! Wonderful!”

MY FAIR LADY at CLEVELAND PLAYHOUSE

The acting is superb, the singing is heavenly, and at least one cast member, Navida Stein, augments the production’s best accent with virtuoso like talent on the violin.

– Shane Gleason, The Cauldron

“The housekeeper, Mrs. Pearce (Navida Stein) did double duty, filling in on violin occasionally – a nice addition.

Navida Stein, as Mrs. Pearce, is another supporting player worth watching in her own right.

AS YOU LIKE IT at ORLANDO SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL

…musicians (especially sweet-voiced fiddler Navida Stein) do a wonderful job interpreting Shakespeare’s songs as late-60’s folk rock.

Elizabeth Maupin, Orlando Sentinel

A trio of energetic folkies (…Navida Stein…) provide a near-constant soundtrack of 60’s tunes and further the Flower Power vibe.

COWGIRLS at NEW HARMONY THEATRENavida Stein, Cowgirls, New Harmony Theatre, Mary Lou, NavidaStein.com

Navida Stein as the repressed inhibited Mary Lou who finds her sexuality and redemption in country music is a hoot. Her bawdy song “Saddle Tramp Blues” will set you rockin’ and rollin’.

– Lois Mittino Gray, Posey County News

CARBONDALE DREAMS OFF-BROADWAY

If they are believable – not often the case – I like to see explosions on stage, and when Navida Stein explodes as Beth, the overeating suburban housewife…..boy, you’d better believe it…..The only thing that could have improved the scene for me would have been for the hurled food to have been, not rubber, but as real as Beth’s strident, strangled fury.
